  • Andra Hendrie

  • Member Description: Andra Hendrie moved to Buena Vista in 1992 after living in Bailey for 27 years. She taught many different age groups art lessons in her home and at her arts and crafts business. She loves to teach and paint most mediums but prefers watercolors, pastels and oils the best. She likes to mix realistic, romantic and a little bit of abstract styles to get unique paintings but is open to new ideas. She is now showing her work at the Courtyard Gallery located in the Buena Vista square on E. Main Street.

  • Member Description: Jude’ Silva’s experience as an artist spans 30 years. Her craftsmanship is based in the textile tradition of basketry and handwork. The pursuit of techniques led her to work with a broad range of artists and textile guilds. Silva's formal art education began in 1976 after her youngest of four children turned a year old. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting in 1981 and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in spatial arts in 1993 from San Jose State University in San Jose, California. Silva's work has been exhibited nationally and purchased by corporate and private collectors. A selection of group and one-person shows include San Jose Museum of Art, Apple Computer, California Crafts Museum, University of Southern Colorado, Durango Arts Center and current agenda, cultureclash. In 2001, she received State of Colordo Arts Fellowship for three-dimensional work. After spending fifty years living in the California Bay area, she relocated to Buena Vista, Colorado, in 1995.   • Member Description: Robert Gray’s Colorado heritage is deeply invested in each finely turned aspen vessel he creates. Buena Vista provides a spectacular backdrop for his 35 years as a wood-lathe artist. His uniquely sculpted vessels are individually crafted from carefully selected wind-fallen aspen trees. He follows a meticulous multi-step procedure that includes a lengthy yearlong curing process to produce a very stable vessel. He uses his skills and artistic sensibility to achieve extraordinary delicate tin-walled vessels with unique openings and flawless finishes.   • Member Description: Amateur origami-lover, Mei-Yue Lin, became an origami instructor in college and art-craft store, after being involved with volunteer origami program in hospital and library for many years. With the background of a bachelor degree of horticulture, she enjoys making 3-dimensional origami flower by using dyed washi-paper, attempting to catch the gusto of impressionism. Moreover, she likes to combine origami with Chinese calligraphy together to create the unique origami bookmark and card, so as to advance the artistic level of origami between texture and ink. Besides being an origami-lover, she is an amateur trans-lator of contemporary Chinese poetry, Mandarin and Taiwanese popular song, Chinese tongue twister, as well as a Chinese calligraphy-lover.
