| Solar Etching - Jean Gumpper |
|
| Date: October 4th & 5th Time: 10:00am to 4:pm |
| Cost: $140. AVAC Members $160. Non-Members |
| Description: Solar etching is a non-toxic intaglio process which uses the sun and water to make printmaking plates instead of using acid, toxic grounds and solvents. This fun process will allow you to make prints from drawings, photographs, collages or even actual objects. You will learn to make transparencies and plates and to print in black and white and color. We will also explore other processes such as chine collé, relief rolls, stencils and monoprint color. Both beginning and experienced printmakers are welcome. Advanced techniques will be discussed for those who have already participated in one of Jean’s workshops.
Plates and all other materials needed to print will be provided. Additional plates will be available to purchase. Bring ideas, collage materials, drawings or small objects to photocopy for source material or just come willing to experiment. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting inky.
